From Clavichords to Concert Halls
The history of the piano dates all the way back to 1726
where the creator of the first 'Piano',Bartolomeo Cristofori of
Padua, Italy, who was a great harpsichord player, created an
instrument similar to the harpsichord but unlike it, the piano
could play loud notes as well as quiet ones, earning it the original
name of 'un cimbalo di cipresso di piano e forte'. A later version
was built by Gottfried Silbertmann with one main difference, the addition
of a sustain pedal which allowed the notes played to be sounded out without
having to be held down. The modern Piano we all know and love today
was developed in the 1820's and it was perfected up until the early
2000's. Now we have 3 different types of Piano's, Grand Piano,
Upright Piano and the Electric Piano going in order of most
expensive the least expensive on average.
